Clear, ethical, and therapeutic professional boundaries:
Maintaining clear, ethical, and therapeutic professional boundaries is foundational to safe, effective, and trustworthy healthcare practice. Boundary violations, whether physical, emotional, or financial are a leading cause of disciplinary action, eroding patient trust and compromising professional integrity. This critical webinar provides healthcare professionals with the practical tools and awareness necessary to recognize, navigate, and maintain appropriate boundaries in all therapeutic and professional settings, ensuring both patient protection and professional safety.
Why should you attend :
In the highly relational field of healthcare, ambiguity regarding boundaries can quickly escalate into ethical and legal crises. Boundary crossings (minor deviations) can easily slip into harmful boundary violations, putting your career and license at risk. This isn't just a compliance check; it's a deep dive into the practical scenarios, from social media use to gift-giving and dual relationships, that complicate modern practice. Attend this webinar to gain the clarity, confidence, and specific strategies needed to set and hold firm boundaries, protecting your integrity, safeguarding your patients, and strengthening the foundation of trust essential to the therapeutic relationship.
Areas covered in the session:
· Differentiate clearly between boundary crossings (potentially helpful or harmless deviations) and harmful boundary violations (exploitative or detrimental actions).
· Identify and manage common risk factors and "slippery slopes" that can lead to boundary erosion, particularly in long-term or highly emotional care settings.
· Establish and articulate clear guidelines for professional conduct regarding social media, electronic communication (text/email), and maintaining privacy online.
· Analyze the complexities of dual relationships (e.g., accepting gifts, socializing with clients, or working with family/friends) and implement strategies to avoid or ethically
manage them.
· Recognize and address signs of misconduct or exploitation, and understand mandatory reporting responsibilities and organizational procedures.
